Edward is an MEng Electronics Engineer, a BASI Level 2 ski instructor, and a fitness enthusiast with a background in building products with commercial understanding. He has built products for strength training and health monitoring, driven by his passion for sports. In March 2024, after a grueling ski touring climb left him too exhausted to enjoy the descent, Edward founded Elec Ski—a startup focusing on building products that let skiers access untouched powder without draining all their energy on the way up.
Elec Ski is developing a bolt-on electric assist unit for ski touring, the SM1. Used alongside your skins, it lightens the uphill trek by up to 50%. So you can focus on enjoying fresh powder without depleting your energy on the climb. Our system attaches to the skis you already love (even heavier downhill skis), and once you reach the summit, the compact unit can be stowed in your backpack for an unencumbered descent.
